MHE’s New Staff Spotlight! Giving a warm Husky welcome to... Ms. Marino! Hi! I'm so excited to be a first-year teacher this fall! I recently graduated from the University of Kansas, and I can't wait to begin this new chapter as a 2nd Grade Teacher at Mount Hope Elementary. In my free time, I love traveling, spending time with my friends, and making new memories. I'm looking forward to an amazing school year and getting to know everyone! Favorite Leader In Me Habit: 2: Be Proactive- For example, when I have a busy week, I organize my schedule in advance so I can balance work, time with friends and family, and personal responsibilities. Instead of waiting until I'm overwhelmed, I prioritize what needs to be done and take action early. This helps me stay organized, reduce stress, and follow through on my commitments.Favorite Leader In Me Habit: 2: Be Proactive- For example, when I have a busy week, I organize my schedule in advance so I can balance work, time with friends and family, and personal responsibilities. MHE’s New Staff Spotlight! Giving a warm Husky welcome to... Mrs. Franklin! I've been an English teacher for the last 13 years, and I'm excited to begin the next phase of my career as a Librarian at Mount Hope Elementary. I love reading, being outside, and baking. Favorite Leader In Me Habit: Habits 6- Synergize and 7- Sharpen the Saw: I love that libraries are a place for people to share ideas and resources. Collaboration and continual learning are at the heart of libraries, so I'm looking forward to partnering with teachers and students to help develop the leader in each person.
MHE’s New Staff Spotlight! Giving a warm Husky welcome to... Ms. Smalley! Prior to joining the team as the Technology Teacher at Mount Hope, I was a reading specialist for six years. My hobbies include gardening, hiking, and birdwatching. My husband and I have three very adorable fur babies. Favorite Leader In Me Habit: 7- Sharpen the Saw: I’m always trying to learn new things. When I first started gardening, I wasn’t very good at it. In an attempt to improve my skills, I worked last spring to complete the training and volunteer hours required to become a Missouri Master Gardener. I learned so much from that experience, and am a much better gardener because of it.

MHE’s New Staff Spotlight! Giving a warm Husky welcome to... Ms. Keeven! Hello, I’m joining Mount Hope Elementary as a Speech Language Pathologist. My favorite things are my dog Tobin, baking sourdough and gardening! Favorite Leader In Me Habit: Habits 5- Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood and 7- Sharpen the Saw: I am always striving to be the best version of myself, and I achieve this by taking time to reflect, communicate effectively, and continuously learn and grow.
MHE’s New Staff Spotlight! Giving a warm Husky welcome to... Ms. Schemansky! Hi Huskies! I’m Ms. Schemansky and I am SO excited to be joining you this next school year as a 5th Grade Teacher! Outside of school I enjoy diving into a good book, or taking my dog, Cooper, on adventures. I’m looking forward to an amazing year! Favorite Leader In Me Habit: Habit 2, "Begin with the End in Mind," is a strategy I use often in my daily life. Having a big goal to accomplish can be exciting, but it can also feel intimidating. While I dream big and hope for bigger and better things, I recognize that reaching those goals takes planning and consistent effort. Instead of focusing only on the final outcome, I break my goals into smaller, manageable steps. This helps me stay motivated, track my progress, and remember that each step is just as important as achieving the final goal.

🌟 What Makes a Leader?

Our winners this month were recognized for demonstrating:

  • Integrity: Doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.

  • Empathy: Making sure every Husky feels like they belong.

  • Dedication: Showing up with a positive attitude and a "can-do" spirit.

📸 Moments from the Assembly

Take a look through the photos, and you’ll see the proud smiles and the genuine support our students have for one another. It’s moments like these that remind us why our school is such a special place to grow.

"Leadership is not a position or a title; it is action and example." — This month, our Huskies proved that in spades.

Congratulations to all our honorees! Keep howling, keep leading, and keep making us proud.
