Congratulations to Maria Velasquez on being recognized at Student of the Week! Mrs. Shive nominated Maria. She has made incredible strides since arriving at East her sophomore year. She immediately joined the soccer team and formed great friendships with peers. Maria is now involved in the CAPS program and taking fantastic steps to prepare herself for her future career in the medical field. Even though she is extremely busy between working outside of the school day, homework, and helping to care for her younger siblings, she goes above and beyond to help other students when they need it most. She demonstrates daily what faith and focus can do.
Congratulations to Jacob Rojano on being recognized as Student of the Week for September 11th. Mr. Montgomery nominated Jacob for his character, determination, sportsmanship, and work ethic. Last year was Jacob's first year on the tennis team. I couldn't of asked for a better player to have on our team. He volunteered to help every time we were in need. He showed up to events knowing he would not be playing in but came to cheer on his teammates. No one on the team worked harder than Jacob. This year I am so excited to have him in my classroom as well. Although we are only 2 weeks into the school year, I am still seeing the same determination and grit that I saw on the tennis courts. It has been an absolute pleasure to have gotten to know him.
Congratulations to Seth Elliot on being named as one of our Students of the Week. He was nominated by Mrs. Ancel due to his non-wavering positive attitude. Seth always shows up to class with a smile and is willing to work his hardest. I have witnessed his kindness to others in class as well. If another student is having a hard day, Seth will do his best to cheer them up and support them. Seth is an asset to East High and a model student to have in class.

Congratulations to the Cross Country team - Mia Tomlinson in 5th place, Marissa Crandall in 8th, Lily Erickson in 10th, Taylor Tomlinson in 11th, Ariana Davidson in 12th, Gracie King, and Scarlett Marolf- the team earned 2nd place in the open division at the Twilight Festival last weekend. For the sixth consecutive year, each of Fort Zumwalt School District’s four comprehensive high schools ranks among America’s Best High Schools according to US News & World Report. Of the nearly 18,000 schools ranked, only the top 40 percent earned eligibility to display a U.S. News Best High Schools 2023 badge. U.S. News “Best” badges are widely recognized as symbols of excellence in U.S. education.
The rankings are produced in conjunction with RTI International, a global research firm. U.S. News doesn’t collect data directly from high schools – all data comes directly from official third-party sources.
The national rankings for the four Fort Zumwalt high schools put them in the top 21 percent of high schools in the country. The Best High Schools list is also broken out by state and region. There are almost 800 public high schools in Missouri, US News ranks Fort Zumwalt South, West, East and North in the Top 44.
