FZ Winter Weather Plan
Should Fort Zumwalt call school due to inclement weather during the 2021-2022 school year, the first TWO instances will be traditional snow days. There will not be any remote work for the first TWO days of school canceled due to weather. The days will have to be made up at the end of the school year.
Should the district need to call any other days due to inclement weather, we will make use of the Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) days provided through state law. This will mean that students and teachers will work remotely and that the days will not have to be made up at the end of the school year. We can do this for up to five inclement weather days.
Students should log-in to Canvas in the morning where their assignments will be available at the start of the school day. Some teachers might opt to teach live, but these sessions will be recorded for those who cannot attend. Students without internet access will be provided alternate assignments. Teachers will be available to students as well as to parents/guardians via email throughout the school day.
As the weather shifts in the coming months, please be sure your contact information is current in the parent portal. FZSD notifies families of inclement weather closures through our notification system by phone call, text message for those who have opted in, email, and push notification for those who have downloaded our app. To opt in for texts:
